Clearing the Confusion: TYPO3 Shop vs. TYPO3 Marketplace

Clearing the Confusion: TYPO3 Shop vs. TYPO3 Marketplace

Welcome to our important post, we’ll dive into the key differences between a TYPO3 shop and a marketplace, shedding light on our dedication to developing in-house products and supporting the TYPO3 community. With many TYPO3 agencies eager to join us as vendors, we’ll tackle common myths and misconceptions about T3Planet, and explore exciting ways to strengthen partnerships and collaboration within the TYPO3 ecosystem.

Hey TYPO3 Community! We’ve noticed some ongoing misconceptions surrounding T3Planet and what we do. So today, we want to set the record straight and help you understand the key differences between a TYPO3 shop (like T3Planet) and a TYPO3 marketplace.

We truly appreciate the interest from many TYPO3 agencies wanting to join T3Planet as vendors, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused. While we value the collaboration within the TYPO3 community, we must clarify that T3Planet is a private TYPO3 shop focused exclusively on our in-house developed products.

This blog aims to clear up these misconceptions and explain our model, ensuring everyone understands our commitment to quality and our mission. We are not excluding anyone but rather focusing on delivering the best TYPO3 solutions for our users.

When we first launched T3Planet back in 2019, it was under the name T3Terminal, a TYPO3 marketplace where agencies and developers could sell their products. But fast forward to 2022, we re-imagined our platform and shifted to a private TYPO3 shop.

What does that mean?
It means all the products you find on T3Planet are developed in-house by our expert team, not any other single TYPO3 vendor.

A TYPO3 shop is a place where a single provider—like us at T3Planet—offers products we’ve designed and built ourselves.

It’s B2C (Business-to-Consumer), meaning we focus directly on delivering top-quality solutions to you, the TYPO3 users, without third-party involvement. We don’t collaborate with external vendors, and we control every aspect of the product lifecycle, ensuring a more seamless experience for our customers.

On the other hand, a TYPO3 marketplace operates under a B2B (Business-to-Business) model, where multiple vendors can come together to sell their products. It’s a space for various developers and agencies to showcase their work and offer it to the broader TYPO3 community.

We understand why these basic differences between a TYPO3 shop and a TYPO3 marketplace can sometimes be misunderstood. Since our early days as a marketplace in 2019, many people might still associate T3Planet with that old model. However, with our 2022 re-launch, we have shifted completely to a private shop, focusing solely on delivering our own TYPO3 products & services. We don’t have any activities involving external vendors or a marketplace.

Perhaps people just need to take a closer look at our current T3Planet TYPO3 shop to get a clearer understanding. We invite everyone to explore T3Planet’s offerings and see the care and dedication that goes into each of our in-house products.

To clarify, T3Planet is not in competition with any of the TYPO3 community project. While marketplaces focus on vendor-driven platforms, T3Planet is all about delivering our own, expertly developed TYPO3 solutions. Our mission is to create a direct connection with TYPO3 users, ensuring the highest quality of service and support.

At T3Planet, we’ve always been committed to contributing to the broader TYPO3 ecosystem. Whether it’s through the hundreds of educational TYPO3 blog articles we’ve written, the open-source TYPO3 extensions and templates we provide, or our sponsorships of TYPO3 events and camps, participating in different TYPO3 official teams and more! We are passionate about supporting the community and giving back.

As we continue to grow, we’ll be expanding our range of TYPO3 products, adding new and innovative solutions to help you build better TYPO3 websites. We’re excited about the future, and we hope you’ll be part of our journey as we continue to support the TYPO3 ecosystem.
We hope this clears up any confusion, and we’re always here to answer any questions you might have. In the meantime, feel free to checkout our latest TYPO3 products, solutions and services at T3Planet.com!

Cheers,
The T3Planet Team
